Long lines and short fuses no match for therapy dogs

The stampede in Student Services April 1 for registration on a first come, first serve basis for special programs was quieted by four-footed helpers beginning at 8 a.m. That’s when the first therapy dog appeared on the scene do some emotional calming, coined “stress relief” by much of the A-B Tech staff.

College seeks volunteer tutors for high school equivalency program

The volunteer services program at A-B Tech Community College has an immediate need for new volunteers to assist in the Adult Basic Skills (ABS) and High School Equivalency (HSE, formerly GED) program located at Goodwill in West Asheville.

Asheville Small Business Week starts April 21

In honor of Asheville Small Business Week, the A-B Tech Small Business Center will hold a series of seminars April 21-25 at the college’s Asheville campus and at the Enka lcation  designed to provide current small business owners and entrepreneurs with valuable information to aid in the development of their businesses.

A-B Tech Community College and the Drama Club announce production dates for the company’s twentieth and final production, Unnecessary Farce by Paul Slade Smith. Peter Carver directs. Laura Chaney heads the design team. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, April 24, 25, 26, May 1, 2, 3 and at 2:30 p.m.

Duke Energy awards $195,000 to Asheville-Buncombe Tech

Highland Brewing Founder Oscar Wong with Lee McElrath of PSNC Energy tour the A-B Tech CBI facilities.

Duke Energy and A-B Tech Community College announced a $195,000 investment from the Duke Energy Foundation.

The funds will be used to further develop A-B Tech’s Craft Beverage Institute of the Southeast by leveraging funds to purchase a seven-barrel brewhouse, a distillation system, wine making system and sensory lab.

Plant Sale on Campus

The A-B Tech Biology Department is pleased to announce the 7th annual Sara R. Gnilka Memorial Plant Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, May 2 on the lawn of the Sycamore Building.

*An amazing selection of bedding plants, including vegetables, flowers, herbs!

*All Proceeds go directly to A-B Tech Scholarship and Arboretum Funds.  Last year we raised $6,000!
