Computer-Aided Drafting Certificate

Computer-Aided Drafting (CAD) is primarily used for detailed engineering of 3D models and/or 2D drawings of physical components, but it is also used throughout the engineering process from conceptual design and layout, through strengths and analysis of concepts to the definition of manufacturing or building methods or components. The purpose of this certificate is to provide basic computer-aided drafting (CAD) skills. Students learn CAD techniques for producing 2D and 3D technical drawings using different CAD software programs. The median salary in North Carolina is $21 per hour for a CAD Technician (U.S. Department of Labor, 2015).
