The mission of the Human Services program is to educate and prepare future human services professionals to work in a variety of settings and organizations. This program prepares students for careers in various agencies and programs providing direct services to individuals, families, or communities.

The Human Services program offers a unique blend of child, family, and community relationship studies; intergroup conflict management; crisis and intervention training; and case management handling that provides a base of practical knowledge and skills.

The Human Services Technology degree and the Human Services and Substance Abuse Studies Certificate may be completed 100% online.

Career Opportunities

The Human Services program is a professional studies-based program, leading directly to job placement upon graduation. In addition, graduates will be prepared for transfer to 4-year institutions and other professional programs. Graduates may acquire certification to become Human Services Board-Certified Practitioners (HS-BCP), Certified Substance Abuse Counselors (CSAC), Peer Support Specialists and are prepared to work in diverse settings such as group homes and halfway houses; correctional, intellectual disability, and community mental health centers; family, child, and youth service agencies, and programs concerned with alcoholism, drug abuse, family violence, and aging.
