Financial Aid Matters
Financial Aid Matters Presentation
Beginning with the 2017-18 academic year, all students applying for loans must email the Financial Aid Office letting us know that they watched the Financial Aid Matters video. We award loans based off the email confirmations that we receive. The video indicates that this pertains only to new loan borrowers at A-B Tech. However, please note that we recently expanded this policy to now include both new and repeat loan borrowers at A-B Tech.
We know the financial aid process can be complicated. So, we are happy to announce “Financial Aid Matters,” a new online video presentation for our students.
This presentation touches on a variety of financial aid topics that are important to know during your academic career at A-B Tech and beyond. To ensure accessibility for all of our students, you may view this presentation online at your convenience. The first half of the presentation contains general information about financial aid and receiving aid at A-B Tech. Topics include federal work-study program employment opportunities as well as Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. The second half focuses exclusively on student Direct Loans.
If interested in loans, you must also visit studentloans.gov and complete the following items: Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling Session. Log in with your FSA ID. Once these steps are completed, the college will award you loans, if eligible. You will be able to see the total amount for which you are eligible to receive in your WebAdvisor account. If you would like to reduce the amount of your loans, or decline your loans entirely, complete the Direct Loan Adjustment Form. Submit the completed form to the Financial Aid Office.
Each semester, your loans will be split in half and disbursed in two payments. Your balance with the school will be subtracted from the first disbursement.
You must be actively attending or already completed a minimum of 6 in-program credit hours to receive a loan disbursement.
Anyone who has applied for aid or is interested in potentially applying for aid is encouraged to watch this presentation.
If you fail to complete all of the steps mentioned on this page to apply for a loan - watching the Financial Aid Matters presentation, completing your Entrance Counseling, and completing your MPN - you will not be awarded loans. After you have completed these steps, check WebAdvisor / Self-Service to see if your loans have been awarded.
