Welcome to the Early Childhood Department

The Early Childhood Education curriculum prepares individuals to work with children from birth through age eight in diverse learning environments. The focus of this program is for individuals who have a desire to teach young children ages birth to pre-kindergarten 5-year-olds.   Students will combine learned theories with practice in actual settings with young children under the supervision of qualified teachers. The Early Childhood program offers three-degree options, including transfer options, as well as three certificates.

Graduates are prepared to plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs in early childhood settings. Employment opportunities include child development and childcare programs, preschools, public and private schools, recreational centers, Head Start Programs, and school-age programs.

The Early Childhood Education programs are considered open enrollment.  Students may enter the degree or certificate tracks at any given time this includes during the application process.  Students who wish to enroll in the degree or certificate programs must process through the new student process.  Once the new student process is complete, students will be assigned to a faculty advisor in the Early Childhood Education Department.
