The Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a special called meeting on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at 4:30 p.m. in Rhododendron Room 344. Joe Brumit, Chair, presided.
The following members of the Board were present: Troy Ball, Wayne Brigman, Chair Joe Brumit, Bill Hart, Richard Hurley, Don Locke, Carol Peterson, Wilma Sherrill, Vice Chair Ray Spells, Mandy Stone, and David Wyatt.
Others present for the meeting included Chris Campbell, College attorney.
Call To Order
Mr. Brumit read the ethics statement; no conflicts of interest were reported.
Ms. Rice called roll. A quorum was present.
Closed Session
Dr. Locke moved to enter into a closed session at 4:35 p.m. pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11(a) (3) in order to discuss matters protected by the attorney-client privilege, and pursuant to subsection (a)(1) in order to discuss confidential personnel issues in accordance with G.S. 115D-27-29. Mr. Hart seconded the motion.
On a motion properly made, the Board returned to open session at 5:15 p.m.
Open Session
Chair Brumit read the following statement: “The Trustees and Dr. Dunn have reached an understanding regarding a transition to new leadership at the College. During the closed session the Trustees approved January 1, 2014, as Dr. Dunn’s last day as President. This Board and Dr. Dunn are committed to a smooth transition. Ms. Glover, our Public Relations Officer, can provide additional details. I’ll accept a motion to adjourn.”
Adjourn
On a motion by Ms. Peterson, seconded by Ms. Stone, the meeting was adjourned at 5:16 p.m. by unanimous consent.
