The Presidential Search Committee of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a meeting on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. in the Simpson Building. Joe Brumit, Committee Chair, presided.
The following members of the Search Committee were present: Roger Metcalf, John Parham, and Frances Ramsey.
Others present for the meeting included: Carolyn Rice, Secretary to the Board.
Presidential Search
The Search Committee discussed and agreed to the following:
- The College will host three campus-wide forums to offer faculty and staff an opportunity to share what characteristics they would like to see in a new President. The first forum will be held on August 8 at the Madison County campus. Two additional forums will be held on the Victoria Road campus, one on September 10, and the second on September 17.
- Advertisements for the President’s position will be placed in the Asheville Citizen-Times and the Madison News-Record, for two weeks.
- The Committee will recommend to the Board on August 12 that the search process remain closed and confidential.
- The Committee created an Anonymous Campus Survey. All employees will have the opportunity to complete the Survey that the Committee will use as input during the selection process. The Survey will be available to all employees after the August 12 Board meeting.
- An updated Presidential Search Timeline will be presented to the Board on August 12.
- The possibility of hiring an interim President will be discussed during the July 29 Executive Committee meeting.
