Data Breach Notification from National Student Clearinghouse
The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) was one of many entities recently impacted by a data security event involving the MOVEit Transfer tool, which NSC uses to accept data transfers. Many colleges and universities around the country, including A-B Tech and institutions in the NC Community College System, transfer data through NSC for financial aid compliance purposes and could be impacted by this event.
A-B Tech received notice that student data was accessed by an unauthorized party during a breach of NSC’s file transfer system. Some of the data that universities provide to NSC includes personally identifiable information such as social security numbers and dates of birth. But NSC has not yet identified what sensitive information was accessed. Learn more about NSC’s response to the event.
A-B Tech is committed to actively monitoring the situation and will share relevant future information it receives from NSC. This data security event did not impact A-B Tech’s IT systems.
