The Transitional Studies (Basic Skills) department provides placement testing for various programs at A-B Tech, including continuing education courses, adult basic education, and high school equivalency test preparation.
We administer the official HiSET® and the GED® tests, which are given by appointment only. For the GED® exam, students should visit GED.com to register for each of the GED® tests. The official GED® tests cannot be taken online; beware of websites and other sources that tell you otherwise. Read more about this on the GED Testing Service website Truth About GED Testing Online.
Prospective students who need to take a TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) in order to place into Fire Academy, Nurse Aide, EMT, Basic Law Enforcement Training, or other programs may test during the following times in Hemlock Building Room 322. An appointment is not required. Tests may last up to 45 minutes. Students should arrive in time to allow completion of the test prior to the end of each testing session.
