Help with Technical/Computer Skills
A-B Tech offers the following resources to help students improve their technical/computer skills prior to taking classes with online components:
Basic Computer Courses in Continuing Education
The Continuing Education Division offers a variety of introductory computer courses that are short and offered at either a low cost or for free. Continuing Education courses are not for college credit. To view current/upcoming Continuing Education class schedules, including pricing information, visit: www.abtech.edu/schedules. To speak with someone about Continuing Education course offerings, call 828-398-7903.
Curriculum (for College Credit) Computer Courses
A-B Tech offers a variety of Curriculum (for college credit) computer courses, which have a CIS or CTS prefix. Curriculum class schedules vary each semester, so review the Self-Service Course Catalog to see which CIS and/or CTS courses are currently being offered. Click here for a step-by-step tutorial for how to search for class schedules in Self-Service.
Most online coursework is conducted in Moodle, A-B Tech's Learning Management System. The Moodle Online Orientation, which students are required to complete prior to registering for online classes, is a great resource for learning how to navigate Moodle. Click here for additional Moodle tutorials.
