Welcome, New Employees




Shaneka Haynes, A-B Tech’s newest Education Navigator, began her education here at A-B Tech and now holds a Master’s degree in Human & Social Services from Walden University. She is passionate about serving diverse, high-risk individuals, and recently served as a Child & Family Advocate at Helpmate.

Kelley Pierce joins A-B Tech as a Specialist, English Language Acquisition in the Transitional Studies department. Kelley has a Master’s degree in English from Western Carolina University. She served as interim Writing Studio Director at Warren Wilson College and is a proven educator of ESL students.

Kelly Minnis is A-B Tech’s Administrative Assistant for Hospitality Education. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Broadcasting from Western Kentucky University and more than 12 years of administrative experience in higher education at Texas A & M University.

Shane Ball is A-B Tech’s newest Police Dispatcher. Shane has over 4 years of service with the NC Army National Guard, including deployment at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. His military experience as a Team Leader and with radio systems will prove valuable in his new role here.

Roderick Thompson is A-B Tech’s newest Groundskeeper with over ten years of experience in landscaping, including a previous period with A-B Tech. Roderick moved to Asheville from Michigan where he was a Receiving Hooker (Coil Operator) and most recently, a Groundskeeper with Wayne State University.

Kyle Whitehead can be seen patrolling the A-B Tech campus as the college’s newest Police Officer. Kyle recently earned his BLET Certificate in October from Haywood Community College.
