Irvin Receives IBD accreditation

Jeff Irvin, Director of the Craft Beverage Institute, has been named one of seven Institute of Brewing and Distilling (IBD) accredited trainers in the United States for the general certificate in Brewing.  

Irvin has also earned a diploma in brewing from the IBD in London, which is globally recognized for the advancement of education and professional development in the science and technologies of brewing, distilling and related industries.

A-B Tech’s program is designed for students to be able to sit for the IBD General Certificate. “The combination of the two-year degree and the internationally-recognized certifcate will allow students to be employable at the global level and add competent employees to the thriving WNC beverage industry,” Irvin said.

Irvin was hired at A-B Tech in July 2013 as its Brewmaster to kick-off the Brewing, Distillation and Fermentation program and was recently promoted to the Director of the Craft Beverage Institute. He graduated with a degree in biology from Iowa State and enrolled in the University of California - Davis Master Brewers program.
