Hospitality Club Attends Fundraiser to Feed WNC

On September 29, the A-B Tech student hospitality management club with club advisor Walter Rapetski attended the annual fund raiser for Backyard Bow Pro. This non-profit charity is working to build local networks of caring people to work together to curb food insecurities.

The event involved the hospitality club making a donation of $400 so students could attend where all proceeds go to support Backyard Bow Pro. This group provides the funding for deer hunters to have their kill processed in FDA-approved facilities so the meat can be donated to food pantries throughout Western North Carolina. This local charity has provided more than one million meals since its inception by Joe Lasher owner of M7 Event Solutions at Crest Mountain, who has also been a supporter of the Hospitality  Management program for almost 20 years.

The event included an evening of festivities at Claxton Farm with a buffet that featured game donated by local hunters including bison burgers, venison chili, grilled game sausages, country style Boar ribs and so much more. There were items available at a silent auction that students participated in raising more money for this wonderful charity. The hospitality management club has been attending this event annually for the past 10 years, donating over $4,000 to this worthy cause.
