Coping Style

What is your coping style? How we respond when confronted with difficult or stressful events can be expressed in different ways. Being aware that different events may bring a variety of responses will allow us to empathize with others who may be experiencing stressful events in their lives. Coping styles are our bodies’ defense mechanism towards a stressful event.

Is your life spiraling out of control due to addictions such as; substance dependency, gambling, and/or shopping, etc.? Addiction can rob people from living life to their fullest potential. Addiction is treatable and can be successfully managed.

Recovery is a complex and dynamic process which can assist/guide someone into leading a more productive live. Recovery is self-directing and empowering. Recovery is a reality; it can, will and does happen. A-B Tech is working diligently on a Colligate Recovery Community where students in recovery from addiction, or in some cases, eating disorders, self-harm, or other addictions can have a safe supportive community that allows students to thrive in their recovery.

If you are experiencing stressors which may hinder you personally and or academically, Support Services, located in K. Ray Bailey Student Service Center, is a safe place to assist students with special concerns. For detailed information, please contact Support Services at or (828) 398-7581.
