Steve Poland, Director, Technology Commercialization Program
Steve has more than 17 years of experience leading start-ups and corporate teams in technology infrastructure, product development, digital media management, publishing, and consumer products. Prior to joining the AB Tech team, Steve founded 1x1 Media, LLC – an on-demand CD/DVD manufacturing and digital music services company. Steve led its initial startup, funding strategy, operational setup, and he continues to oversee its long-term product development goals.
In addition to his roles in start-up ventures, Mr. Poland has held numerous leadership positions in the corporate world. The most recent as Director & Founder, Digital & On-demand Services for Arvato Storage Media, (a division of Bertelsmann AG) – the world’s 3rd largest CD/DVD replicator and supply chain services company. Under Steve’s leadership, the Digital Services division grew to more than $2.5 million in revenue with profits exceeding 60%. The Digital Services team was the first company to deliver music content to the iTunes Music Store for major record labels, including Arista, Jive, RCA, and many more.
Prior to his tenure at Arvato, Poland held leadership and management positions with Walt Disney Interactive, Walt Disney Records, and Macmillan Computer Publishing – publisher of the Complete Idiot’s Guide series. Mr. Poland has a B.S. in Industrial Management from the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University.
