Early Childhood Education

Welcome to the Early Childhood Department. 

The Early Childhood Education programs are considered open enrollment.  Students may enter the degree or certificate tracks at any given time.  Students who wish to enroll in the degree or certificate programs must process through the new student process.  Once complete students will be able to declare their major as Early Childhood Education AAS (degree), Early Childhood Education Certificate or the Special Education Certificate.  Students will then also be assigned to an advisor in the Early Childhood Education Department.

If you are NEW to A-B Tech then WELCOME!  Be sure that you complete all the required processes that are a part of becoming a student.  Once that is complete you can declare your program of study in the Bailey building with Student Services.

IMPORTANT:  Please note that while these courses are offered fully online there will be course work that requires hands-on work with children birth to age 8. Hands-on experiences are critical to student learning in the Early Childhood Education program.  This work must be completed in settings approved by the instructor.  Some assignments/projects are also required to be physically submitted to the instructor for grading.

EDU 284-D1    Early Childhood Capstone Practicum

  • Students to be in department determined early care & education settings 9 hours per week on Tuesday & Thursday 8:00 am to 12:30 pm each week of the semester. 
  • The course ‘lecture’ is the only aspect of this course that is online. 
  • Prior approval of the Department Chairperson to enroll.
