A-B Tech Foundation

The A-B Tech Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law. The Foundation has assets totaling over $7.5 million. This past year we awarded 409 scholarships totaling over $480,000.  Other important support was provided for:  New OTA Faculty Salary, Hot Food Team Competition Support for our Culinary Arts Students, and our very crucial Student Emergency Fund. Thank you!

However, the need is still great. Over 72% of our students need some form of financial aid to complete their studies. The financial support from Alumni, friends of the college, and the business community is vital to help these individuals earn a credential that can transform not only their lives, but also the lives of their families and our communities.

Special note to our donors and supporters:  you may expect to hear about the recipients in late June/early July!  Students have received notification from the Scholarship Coordinator and we're awaiting the list of those who have accepted the offer of a scholarship award.  Your support is appreciated and you can know that your scholarship will  make a difference--thank you!

Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to support Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College in all of its programs and activities to ensure that quality educational opportunities are available to its students, faculty and staff.

Goals

  1. Scholarships: Tuition has increased steadily over the past years, making the need for financial assistance greater.
  2. Technology: Students, faculty and staff must have access to the industry standard technology and equipment to continue providing quality training.
  3. Professional Development: Professional development activities enhance our instructors’ teaching skills by providing current information on industry trends.  With state budget cuts, contributions are important to support this annual need.
  4. Renovation and Expansion: Our curriculum enrollment has increased 46.3% since 2001, making it necessary to build new facilities and to renovate others to state-of-the-art condition.
  5. New needs:  The College experiences unexpected needs for which your contributions to "area of greatest need" gives the Foundation to be there to meet these new needs.
