Math, English, Reading
The Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency (ABE/HSE) program supports academic remediation in reading comprehension, mathematics and language skills and provides pre-college instruction. Classes are offered for free throughout Buncombe and Madison counties for adult students to build their basic skills.
If you have been referred to Transitional Studies after taking the NC-DAP and/or TABE college placement exams, you will need to meet with an advisor. Please call (828) 398-7433 to schedule an appointment. We will review your scores and discuss how the Adult Basic Education program can help you improve your skills. We can also help you register for classes and/or study labs appropriate for your level. Once you have improved your skills and demonstrated (by a re-test on the TABE) that your new learning reaches the goals set by admissions, you will be referred back to Student Services to register for college classes.
For more information, students may call (828) 398-7433 or visit the Hemlock Building on the Asheville Campus, or visit the Ramsey Building at the Madison Site.
