Community Voices Lecture Series

Community Voices is an ongoing professional development lecture series featuring community members from a variety of backgrounds. The goal of this series is to encourage dialogue about the rich diversity of the Asheville area community. We welcome A-B Tech students, employees, and the public to attend. All Community Voices events are free and will be held in Ferguson Auditorium on the A-B Tech Asheville campus (unless otherwise indicated).

Isa Whitaker of Bountiful Cities will discuss the importance of community gardens, their impact and how they tackle food insecurity. He will also give some of his own background, his training and current work. His program will be at 11 a.m., Thursday April 26 in Ferguson Auditorium.

Isa Whitaker is a father, husband, and poet. He recently graduated from Green Opportunities "Build and Construction" program offered through A-B Tech and added a Doctor of Naturopathy diploma from the Trinity School of Natural Health to the Associates degree in Liberal Arts he acquired from Western Piedmont Community College. Through the connections he gained as a student at Green Opportunities and A-B Tech, he was hired as an apprentice at Bountiful Cities, working under the community garden network coordinator, the position he now holds.
