The Executive Committee of the Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College Board of Trustees convened a meeting on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at 4:00 p.m. in the Simpson Building. John Parham, Chair, presided.
The following members of the Executive Committee were present: Joe Brumit, Frances Ramsey, Matt Kern, and Roger Metcalf.
Others present for the meeting included: Chris Campbell, College Attorney; and Carolyn Rice, Secretary to the Board.
Closed Session
At 4:03 p.m. Mr. Brumit moved that the Trustees enter into a closed session pursuant to G.S. 143-318.11 (a) (1) and (3) in order to discuss confidential personnel matters pursuant to G.S. 115D-27-29 and to discuss matters protected by the attorney-client privilege.
On a motion properly made, the Committee returned to open session at 4:55 p.m.
Presidential Search Firm
Mr. Brumit moved to hire ELA (Executive Leadership Associates, LLP) as the Presidential Search Firm based on their proposal. Dr. Metcalf seconded the motion which was approved by unanimous consent.
Mr. Brumit requested that a new search timeline be developed by ELA as well.
November 4 Called Board Meeting
The Executive Committee discussed the Agenda for the November 4 Called Board meeting. The Committee agreed to discuss the Search Firm, and an Interim President, and to review the College’s Budget in depth. The Committee also agreed to amend the Agenda, table the Enka discussion, and add a closed session to the Meeting.

On a motion properly made the meeting adjourned at 5:22 p.m. by unanimous consent.
