Adobe Creative Suite, Introduction

Are you new to creative software or need to understand how creative tools work together to create beautiful content for print and the web? This course offers an introduction to the Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, GoLive and Adobe Bridge. Whether you're a graphic design novice, educator, or are brand new to the creative process, this course is for you. You will learn setup, designing websites, adding basic animations and moving projects from print to web. Students will need basic computer skills, equal to those gained in Computer for the Beginner, and will need to obtain a copy of Adobe Creative Suite for use outside of class. A demonstration version can be obtained free of charge at www.adobe.com. The textbook can be purchased at the Asheville Campus or Enka Site bookstore. Attendance at the first class is required. InDesign's familiar design makes it easy to master for Photoshop, Quark and Illustrator users and allows students to integrate their designs with other products quickly and effectively. In this hands-on class you will learn through a series of project-based lessons to create pages with InDesign. This class is suitable for Macintosh or Windows users, and Mac users are encouraged to bring laptops if preferred. In this course you will learn the use of multiple layers, advanced blending tools, layer masks and other tools and actions that make Photoshop Elements a versatile and powerful digital imaging program. Learn how to create unusual effects, including lighting and transparency, how to use perspective and distortion controls to create images and how advanced printing techniques allow you to create your own custom print layouts.     Computer Repair, Maintenance, and Upgrading

    Need to install more memory? Need to replace a modem or network card? This class is for you! In this hands-on course, you will learn to identify and maintain the components of a computer, replace and add memory, install and format a hard drive, install an operating system and add new software. Simple troubleshooting techniques and preventive maintenance will also be covered. This class focuses on PCs and will not include a discussion of laptop repairs. Reference books are optional and will be discussed at the first class. Classes held at the Madison- Honeywell location will require an insurance fee of $1.30.
