A-B Tech Community College and the Drama Club announce production dates for the company’s twentieth and final production, Unnecessary Farce by Paul Slade Smith. Peter Carver directs. Laura Chaney heads the design team. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday May 1, 2, 3 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 4 in Ferguson Auditorium on the Asheville program. Tickets are $5 for veterans, A-B Tech and area students and $10 for adults.

Unnecessary Farce is an award-winning stage comedy in the tradition of Noises Off (but American). In a hotel room at the Grand Pines Inn, an embezzling mayor is supposed to meet with his female accountant, while in the room next-door, two undercover cops wait to catch the meeting on videotape. But there’s some confusion as to who’s in which room, who’s being videotaped, who’s taken the money, who’s hired a hit man, and why the accountant keeps taking off her clothes.

The cast includes Jan Dixon as Eric, Alison Tippins as Billie, Paige Segal as Karen, Robert Bivens as Mayor Meekly, Isaac Skinner as Frank, David Krarup as Todd, and Allison Stinson and Ronnie Sweeton as Mary Meekly. The stage manager is Celeste White; Victoria Trout is the assistant stage manager.
