College seeks volunteer tutors for high school equivalency program

April 21, 2014

The volunteer services program at A-B Tech Community College has an immediate need for new volunteers to assist in the Adult Basic Skills (ABS) and High School Equivalency (HSE, formerly GED) program located at Goodwill in West Asheville.

Volunteers will be under the direction of an A-B Tech instructor and should be proficient in language arts or math for sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 9 a.m. to noon. The College’s ABS/HSE program boasts 16 volunteers, but changes in the HSE tests and the number of students enrolled necessitate the need for additional volunteers committed to student success.

A-B Tech students and staff welcome to apply. For an interview and orientation, please call Jeralie Andrews, coordinator of volunteer and intern services, at 828-398-7761, or email jeralieeandrews@abtech.edu
