Cosmetology students place in regional competition

Designation Affirms Quality of Programs and Credentials

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) officially announced the reaccreditation of A-B Tech for the next 10 years during the organization’s annual meeting in Nashville last week.

Ward wins "Have an Idea" Raffle

Tammy Ward, Moves and Set Ups Coordinator, has President Dennis King record her voicemail message after winning the QEP Raffle, “Have an Idea?” that was introduced during Professional Development Day in October. Ten other winners received an A-B Tech coffee mug.

 

English as a third language student receives Career Readiness Certificate

A-B Tech student Lyudmyle Knaus passed the WorkKeys exam and earned her Career Readiness Certificate even though English is her third language.

Stuart Lyons, a student at A-B Tech Community College, has been selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society as a 2014 Coca-Cola Leader of Promise Scholar.

Student wins Best of Show with welding and blacksmithing skills

Wilson Smith, a welding and blacksmithing student at A-B Tech Madison, recently won Best of Show at the NC Mountain State Fair and Best of Show at the NC State Fair for his beautiful maple leaf mirror creation.

Both welding and blacksmithing skills were used to create this 100 percent handcrafted piece. The mirror is currently on display in the lobby at the Madison Site.
