The Writing Center is here to help

November 3, 2010

The online Writing Center allows students to send a draft of a paper for any course to writingcenter@abtech.edu as an attachment to an e-mail to assist with issues concerning the paper.

Though tutors are asked not to "proofread" or "edit" papers, they can point out patterns of error in usage and sentence structure; explain problems with direction, unity, support, coherence, style, and treatment of sources; and make suggestions for improvement in any area of weakness.

Please help the Writing Center respond to submissions without delay by sending drafts from college e-mail, rather than from a personal e-mail account.

The center needs the following information with each online submission in order to comment on draft work: Name as it appears in college records,  student ID (the number  used to register for courses),  instructor's name,  course title (e.g. HIS 111 or ACA 115), the course section number (e.g. O1 or YN2), assignment guidelines, and one or two focused questions to help us understand specific concerns.

Please include this information in each e-mail and attach a draft in Word 2007 or in Rich Text format. The Writing Center is eager to help with writing assignments and will be grateful for  help in facilitating the reply process.
