Student photo named finalist in national contest

October 19, 2012

A-B Tech student Katherine (KT) Pierce, is a finalist in the 32nd Annual College and High School Photography Contest by Photographer’s FORUM Magazine. She submitted the photograph while enrolled in Leigh Mitchell’s Spring 2012 Digital Photography II class. The image will be published in a book called Best of Photography 2012.

This is what KT said about her photo: "This picture means a lot to me, considering that damaged airstream is my former home and the girl in the picture recently overcame a very serious battle with cancer. Life is portrayed here with a carnival feel, a madhouse, a land of strange occurrences with trials and triumphs. You can't tell by the picture, but because of the extensive chemotherapy, her hair has thinned out quite a bit, so we teased it a bunch and curled the front to give her a solid look of renewal. She is portrayed, here, emerging from 'Disaster'."
