Silent Witnesses Domestic Violence Awareness Exhibit runs through Oct. 26

October 17, 2012

The Silent Witnesses Domestic Violence Awareness Exhibit will run through Oct. 26 in the lobbies of Holly, Hemlock, Elm, and Birch on the Asheville campus.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In recognition, the A-B Tech Diversity Committee has partnered with Helpmate to host the Silent Witnesses exhibit. This exhibit is a traveling memorial honoring women and children who were murdered in NC as a result of domestic violence. The exhibit is made up of life-size red figures, each representing a woman or child who once lived, had neighbors, friends and family - whose life ended violently at the hands of someone claiming to have loved them. This exhibit is aimed at promoting peace, healing and responsibility in adult relationships in order to eliminate domestic violence homicides.

Students and employees can speak with a Helpmate representative during the Wellness Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct.  23 in Coman gym.
