Give a Pint, Save a Life

A-B Tech's next American Red Cross blood drive will be Feb. 18 in Coman Gymnasium. Donors must bring a picture ID or ARC Donor Card, and eat something before donating. Walk-ins are welcome, but the wait may be long. Please make an appointment with Carol Stanford at 254-1921, ext. 377 or cstanford@abtech.edu.

Dallas Herring Lecture scheduled

The 2011 W. Dallas Herring Lecture will be 4:30 p.m. Feb. 16 in Wachovia Hall, Friday Institute on the Centennial Campus of NC State University. Dr. George Vaughan, is Professor Emeritus of higher education at North Carolina State University (NCSU) and President Emeritus of Piedmont Virginia Community College, will be the presenter on Leadership: "Lessons Learned over a Lifetime." The lecture will be available via live streaming at www.fi.ncsu.edu/videostream.

Foundation Seeking Scholarship Recipients

The application process for Foundation scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year is now open to all curriculum students. The deadline to apply is March 31.

Encourage students to apply for scholarships for any area of study. Scholarships for specific student populations are also available. Faculty and staff are encouraged to volunteer to review the scholarship applications.

O'Connor appointed to Commission

Ken O'Connor, Executive Director, Economic & Workforce Development, has been appointed by Buncombe County Commissioners to serve on the Asheville Transit Commission.

Tip for Sustainability

A-B Tech's Global Institute for Sustainability Technologies offers the following sustainability tip for February. Turn off the water while brushing your teeth. Treating and storing city water takes a lot of energy and if you are on a well you're still using an electric pump. Remember, it's all interconnected.
