The State Board of Community Colleges approved funding for a $20,000 Transition to Employment grant for the Compensatory Education program at A-B Tech for the 2010 calendar year. The project will support preparation for employment of selected participants who are currently enrolled in Compensatory Education through training outside the classroom.
Three A-B Tech employees were recipients of the 2008-09 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Excellence Award. Michele Hathcock, Director of Student Activities, Recruitment, and A-B Tech at the Mall; Marlene Roden, Business Computer Technologies instructor; and Leigh Mitchell, adjunct photography instructor, were among 1,430 winners nationwide.
A-B Tech's Real Estate program and Instructor Bobby Potts were recognized in the October issue of the "North Carolina Real Estate Commission Bulletin" for having at least 80 percent of its students pass the license examination on their first attempt.
