A-B Tech's Counseling Center will sponsor the third annual Alcohol Screening Event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 8 in the Coman Center on the Asheville campus. With approximately 150 participants expected from the College community, A-B Tech counselors will be assisted by volunteer community clinicians.
The free event corresponds with National Alcohol Screening Day Awareness Week and is designed to raise awareness for students, faculty and staff on how alcohol affects health and academic performance. Those interested may complete an anonymous screening survey and review the results privately with a trained clinician. Referrals for additional counseling will be provided as needed. Resource materials will be available for participants to take home. There will also be a wrecked car on display in the parking lot adjacent to the Coman Center to illustrate possible effects of drinking and driving.
