The Smith-McDowell House Museum is holding series of Historic Tea Parties for boys and girls ages 7 and up. This series is a hands-on program bringing American history to life. Each party features historical or cultural themes from various time periods in American history. Girls are encouraged to bring their favorite dolls. Dress code depends on the activities and programs in the Historical Series. The parties will include a brief lesson, snacks, tea and a craft activity.
On March 14, the Museum will host a Pioneer Tea Party. Author Janet Shaw will be teaching a program about her character Kirsten from the American Girl Series. Kirsten is a Swedish immigrant who arrives in New York City and settles in Minnesota.
The dress code will be casual dressy. The Tea will feature a menu of typical pioneer treats. Children will make their own butter. The craft activity will be making a homemade style toy.
Upcoming Tea Parties and activities at the Smith-McDowell House Museum are as follows:
All parties will begin at 11 a.m. and last approximately two hours. A tour of the Smith-McDowell House is included in the cost of the history parties.
