Dr. Dennis King
Dr. Dennis King, Student Services vice president, will receive the Distinguished Administrator Award from Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges.
The Distinguished Administrator Awards are presented to community college vice presidents, deans, or leaders other than college presidents/CEOs serving a community college in an administrative capacity, who have demonstrated a strong level of support for Phi Theta Kappa.
According to the nomination submitted by student members of the Alpha Upsilon Eta chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, King secured funding for the chapter to attend leadership conferences and conventions, as well as operational funding. He also consistently attends induction ceremonies, often speaking to voice his encouragement directly to the students.
King assists 25 students a year with funding for childcare services. He is the only college administrator statewide to oversee this grant and the childcare provided is often the reason many students are able to begin or proceed with their education, according to his nomination.
Awards will be presented at the International Convention April 16-18 in Grapevine, Texas.
