What is Invitational Education?

Susan Donato assisting a student

Susan Donato, Library assistant and Invitational Education Committee member, serves as an ambassador for the College during the first week of fall semester classes, assisting students with directions and providing other information.

Invitational Education asserts that every person and everything in and around schools adds to, or subtracts from, the process of being a beneficial presence in the lives of students. Ideally, people, places, policies, programs and processes should be so intentionally inviting as to create an environment in which every person is cordially summoned to develop intellectually, socially, physically, psychologically and spiritually. Invitational Education was selected as the topic for reaffirmation of reaccreditation for SACS in 2004.
