The World Connections Committee is hosting Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Professor M.A. Narasimham from India Feb. 13 and 14 for three Yoga Sutra workshops and a musical concert.
The open lectures Feb. 13 will be from 1 to 3 p.m. and again from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Ferguson Auditorium. Following the second workshop, Jayashree and Narasimham will perform a concert and chanting. On Feb. 14, a Yoga Sutra workshop on the Ethical Precepts of Yoga will be from 10 a.m. to noon in Sycamore 201. All programs are free to students, and the pubic is asked to give a $5 donation.
Jayashree is a professor of Sanskrit in Mysore, Kamataka, India and has been teaching all aspects of Sanskrit for 30 years. She is also a classically-trained Karnati musician, and has produced CDs on the topic of Yoga Sutras, a foundational text of Yoga.
Narasimham is the director of the Anantha Research Foundation in Mysore, Kamataka, India. He specializes in the Indian philosophical systems and the various practices of yoga. He has also taught Transcendental Meditation.
