Tech Notes

Art Museum Passes Available

Free Asheville Art Museum passes are available for employees and students. They can be reserved up to a week in advance for a one-week checkout, based on availability. There is a limit of six passes per person. A set of 25 passes is also available for instructors to take a class. Contact Sue Donato at Ext. 7572 or sdonato@abtech.edu for more information.

Jonathan Bricker, Business Administration Instructor, is listed as a User Survey Respondent in the 18th Edition of Economics by McConnell, Brue and Flynn, published by McGraw Hill Irwin, 2009.

Cotter Presents to Goodwill

Dianne Cotter, Veterinary Medical Technology chair, gave a presentation on veterinary medicine careers to a class at the Goodwill Training Center Oct. 31.

Massage Therapy Receives Thanks

A-B Tech's Massage Therapy students were thanked for their participation in the Madison County Senior Health Fair by Madison resident Nancy Porter. "They were very professional and enjoyed by everyone," she wrote. "Many people commented on how nice it was to have an A-B Tech health program presence in Madison County."

Radiography Student Awarded Winslow Cup

A-B Tech second-year Radiography student Donna Strubeck received the Betty Winslow Cup for obtaining the highest score for the mock registry exam at the 2008 Annual North Carolina Society of Radiologic Technologists meeting in October in Concord. A student team of Strubeck, Dixie Sommerville, Kristen Durnal and Stacy Perry finished third in the Student Technical Bowl at the meeting.

Yelton Presents at Shanghai Conference

Russ Yelton, Entrepreneurial Ventures and Business Incubator Executive Director, made a presentation on Venture Capital and the Entrepreneurial Mentor during the 11th International Training Workshop on Business Incubation Oct. 20-25 at Shanghai University Science and Technology Park. As a result of the conference, A-B Tech is in talks with new international partners in Belgium, Mexico and France, according to Yelton.
