Charlotte Soule Improving After Accident

Charlotte Soule, daughter of Amanda and John Soule, was featured in the Dec. 6-12 issue of the Weaverville Tribune in a story about her recovery from her accident. Charlotte started walking on her own at Thanksgiving and has returned to her classroom at Weaverville Elementary School.

Charlotte was seriously injured when she was struck by a car Sept. 12. She underwent multiple surgeries including facial reconstruction.

Amanda and John are both graduates of A-B Tech. Amanda has been a faculty member in the EMS program since the mid-1990s. She stepped down from her full-time position to care for her mother, who has been diagnosed with advancing stage Alzheimer's disease.

Early College Students Recognized by Quality Forward

Buncombe County Early College students worked with Quality Forward for a day of planting on Tunnel Road and were pictured in the organization's newsletter along with a quote from a student. "Working with Quality Forward to help make the community beautiful was an enriching experience. It helped me to better appreciate those who spend their time cleaning up litter and planting trees and shrubs; those who give back to nature. It was a memorable event in my life," said student Heaven Bennett.

Lang Praised For Student Support

A parent of a prospective CNA I student wrote an e-mail to Max Queen, provost/executive vice president for Learning, regarding her daughter missing a deadline for registration. "After realizing our mistake, we called Chris (Lang, Health Occupations Program coordinator/instructor) for help," wrote Cathy Trimby.

"Chris was the most polite, encouraging, and supportive person I have ever dealt with in any educational field of which I have been connected. Unfortunately, Connie will not be able to start this class, but due to Chris's encouragement and support instead of giving up, Connie is determined to become a nurse with values as Chris. She truly exemplifies what education stands for – professionalism, courtesy, and above all encouragement."
