Calling All Artists

The deadline is approaching for submissions in the 2005 North Carolina Community College Art Exhibit. Full-time and part-time faculty, students, alumni and staff are encouraged to submit entries from the full range of fine arts and crafts and related fields such as advertising, graphic design, computer design, photography and film. NCCCS President H. Martin Lancaster will make the selections and supervise the placement of the artwork in the NCCCS offices in the Caswell Building in Raleigh. Works will be on display through 2005. Artists should submit images of their work (not the actual work) to the attention of Chancy Kapp, NC Community College System, 5001 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, NC 27699-5001 by Nov. 19. Homes for Hounds

Dog Houses on display at the Biltmore Square Mall for an aution to benefit the Buncombe County Animal Shelter.

Two dog houses were built and donated for an auction to benefit the Buncombe County Animal Shelter by Christoper Castallani's Carpentry students. Participation in this fundraiser was made possible by student Robert Stack. The houses are on display at the Biltmore Square Mall.

NCCCS Conference Presenters

A-B Tech faculty and staff will be among the presenters at the North Carolina Community College System Conference, "Wheel of Learning," Oct. 10-12 in Greensboro.

Jackson also will preside at a session called Effective Application of Learning, Theory and Retention Strategies: Preparing Technicians for the 21st Century Workplace.

Open Mic Night

Aaron LaFalce hosted and performed at A-B Tech's first Open Mic Night.

Aaron LaFalce, performs an original song as the host of the first Open Mic Night, sponsored by the SGA and Drama Club. Participant performances ranged from dramatic monologues to original music, performed before an audience in the A-B Tech Café.
