Photos of the Hospitality Education Center Groundbreaking

Several groups of dignitaries (three photos below), including members of the Board of Trustees, the A-B Tech Foundation and the Hospitality Education faculty and staff, had the opportunity to grab a golden shovel and help with the ceremonial groundbreaking.

The ceremony's Guest speaker Tj Robinson, with President K. Ray Bailey, is an A-B Tech Culinary and Hotel and Restaurant Management graduate who is now an assistant to food and wine expert David Rosengarten and the associate editor of The Rosengarten Report.

Academic Excellence Awards

Students Ashley McRowan and Darlene Saccuzzo, who both graduated May 14, were honored at a May 7 luncheon in Raleigh after being selected for the North Carolina Community College's Academic Excellence Award. McRowan, an Associate in Science student, and Saccuzzo, a Dental Hygiene student, were recognized for their academic success and leadership.

Cunningham Honored by NCDS

Doris Cunningham, a former instructor in the Dental Assisting program, received a Special Recognition Award May 13 from the North Carolina Dental Society (NCDS). The award recognized Cunningham's service and many contributions to the profession of dentistry.

Moore's Efforts Lauded

Recent graduate Lorie Reece wrote a note of appreciation to President K. Ray Bailey on behalf of Admissions Secretary Aimee Moore. In her e-mail, Reece wrote that Moore, 'never passed me off to another person, my e-mails were always answered promptly, and if she didn't know the answer, she found out the answer...It seems nothing slipped through the cracks. I appreciate her, and wanted you to know.'
