Kenet Adamason, Arts and Sciences dean, and Kaye Waugh, Human Resources director, have joined the class of Leadership Asheville 26. The Leadership Asheville program, located on the UNC Asheville campus, allows a diverse group of people to interact and find common goals to work toward for the betterment of the community.
Associate Degree Nursing II students Asha Oakes and Tim Biship received compliments from a patient at Park Ridge Hospital. "Keep the same attitude while students once you get hired and you will be wonderful," the patient wrote.
Nineteen Electrical Apprenticeship students and two instructors completed electrical work at Oak Forest Presbyterian Church valued between $8,000 and $9,000, according to Randy Mahaffey of A-American Electric, who supervised and inspected the electrical work. "Without your assistance, we would not have been able to have improved the lighting situation at our church," wrote R.L. Dalton of the church's property committee. "The young men and one young woman that were in the class worked very hard and were very neat with their work and cleanup. We are every fortunate in our community to have a wonderful institution that is as civic-minded as A-B Tech."
Stefanie McKinley, a recent A-B Tech graduate and member of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society, received the society's Reynolds Scholarship for her literary submission, "My Papa's Plot," which will be published in Phi Theta Kappa's anthology, "Nota Bene."
David Smith, Distance Learning director, accepted the position of Western Region vice president on the North Carolina Community College Alliance for Distance Learning board.
