Q-Tips

As part of our continuing series on Invitational Education techniques, today's Q-Tip brings you the fourth corner of Siegel and Purkey's Four Corner Press Being Personally Inviting with Others. At the February 20 Quality Enhancement Retreat II, we heard Dr. Betty Siegel speak about the influential role of Invitational Education in her more than 20 years as president of Kennesaw State University as well as her personal life. Dr. Siegel believes that a college campus can and should become an environment in which employees and students are encouraged to view education as a cooperative, collaborative activity where process is as important as product. One of the keys to inviting others to succeed, she has said, is the ability to invite the self to succeed. The Four Corner Press encourages intentional invitations to others and the self, both personally and professionally. Here are some Being Personally Inviting with Others tips from writings by Siegel, Purkey, Novak, Stanley, and others (plus a few of our own!) We'd love to hear your ideas, too!

In other QEP news -

Following our visit with Dr. Tom Benberg, A-B Tech's SACS liaison, the Quality Enhancement Team is busy compiling student and employee input. Next, we will disseminate the input received and ask A-B Tech to focus in on three to five QEP goals. Then, employees and students will be invited to form focus groups to investigate those identified challenges and devise resulting plans of action with measurable goals. In the meantime, please contact Deborah Lonon, ext. 339, for further information on the Quality Enhancement Plan or to make any comments or suggestions during this accreditation process. (In other words, feedback is welcome!)
