Take a stand against racism

A-B Tech is joining the YWCA to participate in the national "Stand Against Racism" event on April 29 and 30. The Stand Against Racism is a movement of the YWCA that aims to eliminate racism by raising awareness through its annual event.
Kelly McEnany and Leesa Young's Social Diversity students are leading the effort at A-B Tech! Please join them this Thursday and Friday!

Beech Tree Deck
Leesa Young's Sociology 225 students (Social Diversity) will be on the Beech Tree Deck on Thursday, April 29 from 10:30 - 2:00 (in Coman Center if raining) to help raise campus awareness by participating in the National Stand Against Racism event. They will provide art materials for anyone who wants to decorate a cloth square to add to "Prayer Flags" they will be sewing. These flags will be attached to the poles around the deck and remain up until the end of the semester. Stickers, buttons and other materials will be available.

Beech Tree Deck
Kelly McEnany's Social Diversity students will gathering on the Beech Tree deck for our Stand Against Racism. We will have an assortment of posters designed by students, cookies, and a short list of questions to "spark" conversations about race with others. We will be handing out bookmarks and stickers to those who sign a pledge against racism. It will be informal and those that approach our group can see what students came up with for this national event.
