Student Writing Center here to assist you
September 9, 2010
The online Writing Center is now receiving fall-semester submissions. Students may send a draft of a paper for any course to writingcenter@abtech.edu as an attachment to an e-mail explaining the specific concern about the paper being submitted to the online tutor.
The e-mail should include the student's name as it appears in college records, the student's ID number, the instructor's name, course prefix and number(e.g.HIS 111)and section(e.g. O1)of the course in which the paper was assigned, the assignment guidelines, and a focused question or two about the draft.
Though tutors are asked not to "proofread" or "edit" papers, they can point out patterns of error in usage and sentence structure; explain problems with direction, unity, support, coherence, style, and treatment of sources; and make suggestions for improvement in any area of weakness.
Students enrolled in online and hybrid courses will be given priority in the online Center; however, during activity days, inclement weather days, or especially busy periods in the on-campus Center, the online Center will make every effort to respond to submissions from any student who needs help with a paper. Turnaround time is 24 to 48 hours Monday through Thursday and as much as 72 hours Friday and through the weekend.
The on-campus Writing Center is now open in Ferguson 114! English instructors and peer tutors are available to help you with your papers and presentations for any course.
We are open Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The on-campus Writing Center welcomes walk-ins but encourages appointments. To make an appointment come to Ferguson 114 or call ext. 218 or 219.
