Sigma Alpha Pi

A-B Tech's Chapter of the

National Society of Leadership and Success

 

The A-B Tech Student Life & Development office is proud to sponsor the Sigma Alpha Pi chapter of the National Society of Leadership and Success.  This leadership development program is open to curriculum students who have completed at least 12 credit hours in good standing with a 3.0 GPA. The National Society of Leadership and Success Sigma Alpha Pi chapter is a leadership program that has hundreds of branches throughout the nation at community colleges and universities.  Invitations are sent by mail.

 

The A-B Tech program is designed as a one-semester leadership development  training that utilizes the resources of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

The program will be broken out into the following components:

 

Program Orientation  will provide a more detailed introduction to the program, steps in the induction process and membership benefits. Please plan to join us in Ferguson Auditorium either:

  • Friday, January 31st from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., OR
  • Friday, February 7th from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m., OR
  • Tuesday, February 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. 

 

Leadership Training Day where members will create personal mission statements, explore goal-setting strategies and learn about tools to keep them on track as the move toward their goals.  Goals could be short-term in nature, like getting an A in Math this semester or long-term like starting a business.  Students will learn about A-B Tech specific resources and those of the National Society of Leadership and Success.  Dinner, workbook and all supplies will be provided. Only one Leadership Training Day will be held each semester, and this event is required before moving forward in the program.

  • Please plan to join us on Friday, February 28th from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. in Ferguson Auditorium.

 

Success Networking Team (SNT) meetings will take place throughout the semester and give students an opportunity to network with fellow members of their cohort group.  The teams are designed to use peer accountability and support to help each member move forward with the action steps they identified during the Leadership Training session. Meeting times are set up by students according to individual schedules.

 

Speaker Series will provide students with an opportunity to interact with nationally recognized speakers through live broadcasts in which students can text message questions to the moderator during the broadcast.  For students who miss the live broadcast, a rebroadcast will be released one week after that live session.  The National Society of Leadership and Success will host  three speakers each semester.  Participants in the Leadership Program will need to participate in 3 speaker events which can be a combination of live broadcasts or rebroadcasts.

Jim Cramer

Jim is the renowned host of CNBC's Mad Money with Jim Cramer, co-host of Squawk on The Street, and author of the new book, Jim Cramer's Get Rich Carefully.

  • Live Broadcast: Tuesday, Februrary 11th, 7 p.m. Ferguson Auditorium
  • Rebroadcast: Friday, February 21st, 2 p.m. Ferguson Auditorium

 

Blake Mycoskie

Blake Mycoskie is the Founder and Chief Shoe Giver of TOMS, and the person behind the idea of One for One™, which has turned into a global movement.  He will be speaking on social entrepreneurism and the power of incorporating giving into business.

  • Live Broadcast: Tuesday, February 25th, 7 p.m. Ferguson Auditorium
  • Rebroadcast: Friday, March 7th, 2 p.m.  Ferguson Auditorium

 

Carly Fiorina

Carly Fiorina is one of the most recognized business leaders in the world, starting her business career as a secretary and going on to become the first woman to lead a Fortune 20 company.

  • Live Broadcast: Tuesday, March 25th, 7 p.m.  Ferguson Auditorium
  • Rebroadcast: Friday, March 28th, 2 p.m. Ferguson Auditorium

 

Induction -  students who complete all induction requirements will be invited into the society at the end of each semester. An induction recognition ceremony will be held on April 29th at 7 p.m. Students who complete their requirements in either Fall or Spring semesters will be recognized with a formal Recognition Ceremony taking place at the end of the academic year.  Members who complete all the steps listed above will have their membership status upgraded from base member to full membership within the National Society of Leadership and Success.  Inducted members will receive a certificate, t-shirt, pin, access to a national job board, an opportunity to apply for scholarships and lifetime membership in the national organization. Click here to read about our 2013-2014 Induction Ceremony!
