The Institute for Film and Media Studies (IFMS) creates synergistic opportunities for students, community arts interests, industry professionals, and lifelong learners to pursue their passions for filmmaking. Classes will begin fall semester 2013.

The IFMS at A-B Tech Community College engages students and the community in theoretical and hands on training through curriculum classes, continuing education, and collaborative arrangements with area professionals.
Curriculum students graduate from the Institute with an Associate in Arts degree preparing them for transfer to a university and/or for entry-level positions in the film industry.
Collaborating with Continuing Education/Workforce Development, IFMS offers personal enrichment classes and workforce development training for community members and students.
The IFMS orchestrates collaborative internship agreements with area professionals providing students with worksite experiences. The Institute fosters partnerships with area businesses for presenting signature events such as film festivals and visiting artists’ workshops.
As the IFMS vision suggests, these partnerships enhance both our students’ learning and fill a need in our community by preparing visionary artists for jobs in the media industry. The Institute for Film and Media Studies at A-B Tech Community College is an innovative program that leads the way for media studies at the community college level.
