Academic Advising

A-B Tech is committed to the success of all students. A comprehensive advisement system is in place to support student success. Students are assigned to faculty advisors in their individual program of study. Unclassified students (those without majors) may self-advise or receive assistance in the K. Ray Bailey Student Services Building.

Determining career goals can be hard. We have resources to help. Please visit our Career Development Services. Declaring a major early assists students in finding the quickest pathway to their goals. If you wish to receive financial aid you must be admitted to a major. To get information on declaring a major, download the Student Enrollment Checklist.

Be sure to contact your faculty advisors at any time during the term when questions or problems arise, but especially during published advisement periods. Ask for the name of your advisor by calling the College at (828) 398-7900 or dropping in at the Service Desk in the Bailey Building. New students and those wishing to change their programs of study are welcome to schedule an appointment with the College Entry Advisor. Appointments are available daily and may be scheduled online:

New students interested in transferring to a four year institution after completing a program at A-B Tech are invited to meet with an advisor in the Transfer Advising Center. Click here for more information on our College Transfer Programs
