Eighty percent of all positions are filled without employer advertising! This is the Hidden Job Market. These positions are filled by candidates who come to an employer's attention through colleague or employee recommendations, or (for example) have volunteered for the organization. The key to the Hidden Job Market is Networking. Tell family, friends, and professional contacts that you are seeking employment. Ask to be introduced to professionals they know who are already working in your field of interest. This contact could lead to learning about positions before they are advertised.
