Here you will find information regarding the different types of aid listed on your award notification, how to apply for work-study, how to apply for loans, how to use your financial aid to pay your charges, and how to receive a refund of any remaining financial aid. Tuition and Bookstore Charges

Once aid has been posted to your Web Advisor account, tuition and fee charges are deducted first. Please be aware that under federal guidelines, financial aid will only pay for courses required for your academic program. Any remaining aid can be used to purchase books in the college bookstore during dates identified by the Bookstore. Bring your student ID card and a schedule of your classes when you come to the Bookstore.

 

Financial Aid Refunds

You will receive a refund of any remaining aid that you are eligible for once your charges have been deducted. All financial aid funds, except Work-Study paychecks, are disbursed through Higher One.

Please note: Award notifications are based on full-time enrollment. If you enroll less than full-time, your aid will be adjusted accordingly after the semester begins. To learn more about enrollment statuses, please click here.

Please consult the section below to learn how different types of aid refunds are disbursed.

Pell Grant funds will automatically be disbursed according to the Financial Aid Disbursement Schedule.

State Grant funds will automatically be disbursed according to the Financial Aid Disbursement Schedule. 

Direct Loan funds are issued according to the lender’s disbursement schedule sent to the student by the lender in conjunction with the Financial Aid Disbursement Schedule.

Scholarship  funds will automatically be disbursed according to the Financial Aid Disbursement Schedule unless other arrangements are specified by the organization granting the scholarship.

Work-Study paychecks are disbursed according to the payroll schedule located on the timesheet. Work-Study paychecks will be mailed to the address in the student's academic record.

Summer Financial Aid

To determine eligibility for aid for the summer semester, you will need to provide the Financial Aid Office with a Summer Aid Intent Form. Students wishing to obtain Direct Loan funds will need to complete the steps discussed in the Loans section. State grants, scholarships and work-study are generally not available for the summer semester.

An email will be sent to the student’s A-B Tech student email account once the revised Award Notification is available for viewing in Web Advisor.
