The Law Enforcement Academy is home to three individual but related programs:

1. The Criminal Justice Degree Program

2. Basic Law Enforcement Training

3. In- Service Law Enforcement Training

The academy serves over 2000 students annually at various locations in Madison and Buncombe County. Curriculum classes are taught at the Madison campus, the Asheville campus, as well as at every high school in Buncombe County. Over 150 classes are offered each year for sworn law enforcement officers through the academy. The in-service training is for:

1. Sworn Law Enforcement Officers

2. Certified Detention Officers

3. Department of Correction Officers

4. State Probation and Parole Officers

Meet our Staff

Chris Fay joined the academy staff in 2002 and was appointed the Chairperson of the Criminal Justice Program in 2007. Chris moved to the area after a full law enforcement career in New Mexico. M.A. University of New Mexico 24 Years Sworn Law Enforcement

Elizabeth Scarbrough joined the academy staff January 1, 2004. Elizabeth's expertise is in the legal field and she has served as an assistant district attorney. J.D. University of Georgia
