Associate in Fine Arts (A.F.A.) Pre-Major Art Concentration
Anticipating the needs and desires of Western North Carolina's arts, crafts, and design community, A-B Tech introduced its Associate in Fine Arts Program in 2003. Students who satisfy the courses required in the A.F.A. curriculum and additional General Education courses will be eligible for admission into a university B.F.A. program, pending portfolio review, as a junior.
The program, specializing in visual art and theatre, gives students the chance to showcase their talents. Students in the Visual Art track have an opportunity to participate in an annual student art show where they can exhibit in a commercial gallery. Drama students have a chance to participate in a stage production.
“The studio classes are small, enabling students to have lots of one on one time with instructors,” Sharon Trammell, Fine Arts instructor, said. “Instructors in the Fine Arts department not only have masters degrees in their fields, but many years of professional experience in the field.”
